3 Reasons for a Slow Flushing Toilet

A slow flushing toilet can be caused from a number of different things. Before you are able to decide which reason is causing your toilet to flush slowly, you must first know what to look for or to know what the most common reasons are for a slow flushing toilet.

Tank Not Filling

One of the most common problems for a slow flushing toilet is the tank on the rear of the toilet is not filling up completely. In many cases the reservoir is either not filling up all the way or there is a reason that the reservoir is not staying filled up.

One of the common solutions is the flap on the toilet reservoir is adjusted improperly however in some cases the whole assembly could need to be replaced. Do not attempt this task if you know nothing about fixing toilets.

A Clogged Drain

Another more common problem for a slow flushing toilet is that the drain is clogged. If the drain is clogged, the toilet will either not flush at all or will flush at a much slower pace than usual.

If the drain is in fact clogged, you will either want to plunge it however in many circumstances it will require an actual plumber to come out to your home in order to avoid damage being done to your pipes.

Damaged Pipes are Another Serious Issue

In some cases the pipes that are delivering water into the home or from the home is cracked and therefore allowing a limited amount of water in to the home or out of the home. If this is the case, you will need to pick up the phone and call for a plumber to come out to your home and inspect your lines.

There is a possibility that the water line that is cracked is easily able to be replaced however there is a possibility that it could also be an expensive repair however you will not know this until the plumber is there to look over the exact cause of the slow flushing toilet.

Once you have been able to distinguish the reason behind your slow flushing toilet, you will be able to keep an eye out for the next time that your toilet starts to slow down and therefore will be able to better understand what is going on with your toilet and possibly next time avoid the plumber altogether.
